The History of Epson
Seiko Epson Corporation (Epson) was founded in 1942 by Hisao Yamazaki, a local clock shop owner, in Japan and started as a producer of watch parts.
When the Seiko Group was assigned the task to be the official time keeper for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, Epson was assigned to develop a printing timer.
