Knee pain when putting pressure on and tender to touch?

I went to the gym yesterday and when I left everything was fine. My knee was a little sore when I went to bed and when I woke up it was really sore. It hurt to walk down the stairs, and it’s tender on the bottom part of the knee. It also hurts a bit when I straighten my leg out. What could this be and will just icing it help?

I think that there is probably someone growing out of your knee.
