puppy training?
We’re getting my sister’s 6 mo old puppy. He’s a beagle/lab mix and i’m assuming a small part chow because he has a spotty tongue.
He pees on the floor! The vet said he’s not potty training at my sister’s house because they also have aa dog that’s a few years old and he likes to play with him, so that when he goes outside, he’s focused on playing with the older dog and not peeing.
However, we’ve had him at our house a few times and he pees on the floor. When he goes outside he pees, but when he’s inside he doesn’t give any indication of wanting to go out. no scratching at the door, whining, etc.
What can i do?
I have the same problem with my german shepard puppy. I take him to puppy classes.
They teach us to use “NUH UH” instead of “NO” because when you are saying a negative command you have to say it with a deep voice so your dog knows who is the alpha. “No” is also not a good word to use because we use this word all the time in conversations so if they’re listening they don’t know the diffrence.
when your dog has actually done the deed say good boy or good girl or what helps the best is buying a clicker.
if you go to petsmart or any other pet store, they know what your talking about. once you get this everytime your dog does something you want it to do you click and give him/her a treat. so automatically he/she will know when he has done something good. you can also do this when your teaching your dog tricks. you use one to two words on each command. keep it short. UP, COME, SIT, GET DOWN, LAY, ROLL OVER. also use hand signals they help so much better. click and give a treat everytime your dog does EXACTLY what you want it to.
never reward your god when it has done something bad, to calm it down or get its attention.
buying a gate would be awsome, too.
