Has anyone used a Pedipaw nail trimmers on a large breed dog?

I have a Chocolate lab with black(brown) nails. I attempted to trim his nails the other night and ended up hurting him pretty good on the very first one I did. (this was my first attempt of trimming nails) I don’t want to use toe nail trimmers again in fear of hurting him. I wanted to know how the pedipaws work on dogs with thick nails, I know it works will with little thinner nails…

yes the pedipaw trimmers are mostly for the smaller more pettite dogs the small breeds but you can use a drimmel nail file on the larger breeds. i actually find that if you go to walmart or your local stores you can find manicure sets for women that work great on dogs! i took my female bulldog to a groomer once to get just her nals trimmed and the guy was a jerk to her they held her down (which she dont like at all) and they put a muzzel on her (which she didnt need) and the first cut her nals with clippers (that made her nals all jagged and sharp) then they used a large style drimmel on them to file the edges off (which they completely missed) and when i got her home she was a wreck from all the stress and then when she was playing with my daughter cut a huge gaping scratch down her back that bled for hours!!!!!! i wanted to kill that groomer for doing that to her! so i went and bought a manicure set for me at walmart and when i sit down to do my nails she comes and lays next to me and goes to sleep while i do her nails too! only i take the time and get them all filed smoothly and short so that it takes a lil while longer before i have to do them again! she absolutely loved it after i did her nails!!! she wasnt stressed out, muzzled, or making anyone bleed!!! and its been a few months now since i did them ans they are still painted so the best way to get your doggies nails done is at home wheres theres no stress and you can take your time and its just way easier on the dogs! but good luck hope all works out for you and your doggie!
