Broken meta-carpal? could it go undetected?
I bent my finger sideways last week and thought it was broken, but the hospital said it was just bruised and splinted it for a few days. I took the splint off today and there’s still a lot of pain in the hand. I can also hear a clicking when I try to move the bone. Is it possible I broke the bone in my hand (they only x-rayed the finger) and didnt get it diagnosed properly?
It’s possible however, extremely un-likely. If anything could go un-detected it would most likely be a small hair-line fracture. However realize that that clicking sound is most likely due to the swelling and all that blood, etc fluid that got displaced in that area. Believe it or not there are actually sprains that “hurt” more than breaks. Good thing to note Sprains=usually tendon ligaments, Strains=Muscles, breaks=bones.
