The Challenge With Fur
If you have a shaggy or longhaired dog, your probably familiar with the odd fur sandwich, or possibly you’ve worn your favorite black “fur” top out somewhere. It’s likely you have even gone to work in your “fur” suit. You know what I’m taking about, dog fur is everywhere and on everything. Personally my favorite is the tumbleweed fur that glides past you on the tiles like a standoff in an American western.
So long as you keep your dog, you’ll never totally eliminate fur from your house or stuff. Ideally though, you would like to decrease the amount of fur that’s lying around.
The Solution
The solution to the fur issue is regular brushing. However, while brushing with a regular brush does remove some hair, there is a grooming tool that can remove way more hair than you would expect.
Remove Even More Hair with the FURminator
The producer claims that the FURminator can remove around 90% more fur than just brushing alone. While I can’t really back that up, it certainly does remove more fur than just basic brushing.
More Than A Brush
The FURminator is basically a unique type of blade on an ergonomic grip handle. The blade is a lot like a set of clippers but you don’t use it to cut hair. It works by gliding it over the dog’s coat much like a ordinary brush. As it glides it pulls out the loose undercoat as well as some topcoat.
Is it easy to use?
You can also see in the video how quick it is to use. Oakley doesn’t actually care and in just a few minutes the FURminator is pulling out clumps of hair. Just brushing you dog in small sections at a time releases an incredible of dog fur that will no longer end up all over your couch.
How long will this take me?
In the video Michelle uses the FURminator for a few minutes and holds up a hand full of fur! When used for about ten minutes you’ll easily get a shopping bag full of the stuff.
But it’s more expansive than a regular brush!
Yes it sure is. Michelle and I put of buying the FURminator because of that very reason. But after seeing a few friends use one we made a decision to have a go. Judging by just how much hair we pull out of Oakley and my other lab Tia the FURminator works.
When you use it regularly it not only keeps my dogs coats looking healthy but also reduces the volume of dog hair in the house. So yea, pricy but worth it.
