Is it possible to amplify a dog whistle over a pa system?

I’m working on a story that requires an answer to that immediate question and can’t seem to find the right answer suitable for this.

If the microphone and speaker were capable of producing the same frequencies then yes. but most speakers are designed to produce sounds that the human ear can detect, as are most mics. There are sounds all around us that are outside the human hearing range. If a mic picked these up and amplified them then speakers wouldn’t be very useful, as the background noise would probably always overpower the main sound.
