Why does my dog have red swollen eyes?

I just took in a stray dog.I have had him fixed and everything.
But what i cant understand is why he has red swollen eyes.
Im taking him to the vet later this week but i would like to know what is wrong with him.
I have 2 cats and im not sure if he is allergic to them.

It sounds like the dog has allergies. I would take him to the vet to be sure. And, the vet could give him some meds to controll the allergies. The best thing to do right now is take him to a vet and get him a check up.
