How do I get a dog and horse in Harvest Moon Island of Happiness?

I heard that you can get a dog from Mirabelle, and a horse from Chen, but what do I have to do to get them from them, and what do they like?

Horse: Get chen’s friend points up to two hearts and on the next clear day he will bring you the horse.

dog- Mirabelle’s friend points up to two hearts and walk into the woods on a snowy or rainy day and an event will occur where you will get your dog. Also, you must have 1 chicken on your farm.
