Electric motor help?
I need to find out the kind of motor my 10 watt ‘AC’ ’60hz’ beard trimmer (Andis Outliner) is running on. Should there be indicator or code on the actual device that could shed some light on this?

I’ve tried contacting the maker but to no reply.
It’s not a motor, it’s an electromagnetic. As the AC cycles from one peak through zero to the next peak, the coil magnatizes the iron core (#10), very similar to a transformer core. The changing magnetic field attracts the arm (#22). The arm also acts as a spring, so the magnetic field attracts the arm, then as the AC goes through zero, the spring action pushes the arm back awar from the coil core, then is attracted back as the AC goes to the next peak. This back and forth action causes the cutting head to slide back and forth. The speed of the cutter is determined by the hertz of your AC power. If you’re trying to see if the trimmer will run from DC, it will as long as it is pulsing DC. It would not run from steady DC.
Many of the less expensive electric razors work in the same fashion. The better ones do have a motor and are quieter and run faster.
