Is it possible to make my TV remote specific to a single TV?

My girlfriend and I both have 26 inch Vizio televisions, essentially the same model. They both came with the same remote, and both TV’s are right next to each other. We are getting frustrated because when I want to change a channel or volume for my tv, it does it for hers aswell. My essential question is, is it possible to program a remote or either TV so that one remote works for only one TV and not the other?

Possible, probably yes, but not that a typical user can do. It would involve re-writing the firmware of one TV to respond to another address, or adding a circuit to translate the alternative address code to the one the TV natively accepts. Plus the remote would need re-programmed, modified, or replaced.

Practically, you are best off moving one of the TVs to another room.
